well, these guys are looking for stories from all 50 states.
They need some from odd places like California, and some really odd places like Minnesota.
Pay is non existent of course, but yanno, it's fun, why not.
Let me know if you win.
I'll shimmy in Sheboygan with ya, or watoosie in Winnemucca, or frug in Fargo, or twist in Truth or Consequences, NM. Our very own version of Dancing with the Snarks!

Whoo-hoo!
Oh wait...
5000 word limit.
Dang.
The geography was willing, but the word count was weak.
They only list 15 states.
Whassup wit dat?
Uck. A Flash-only site. No thanks. Not worth the pub credit.
Worth a try. Thanks very much for the link.
Hmmm. I think I'll browse through my files and see if I have something that might work.
But for the love of dog, their website needs to go. White text on black? An online publication should know better. Worse--Flash. Even worse--Flash images that aren't sizeable that you can't freakin' read. Anyone know if their submission guidelines are printed elsewhere? No matter how much I squint I can't make some of the words out.
I agree, white text on black is impossible. And you can't resize it.
Only if Jerry Springer is a contestant.
Submission guidelines for the Flash averse...
ONLINE | 50 States Project
BALLYHOO STORIES is also accepting story submissions with the states of California, Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, West Virginia, or Wisconsin as either the subject or the setting. Stories will be published online as part of our 50 States Project. Unpublished stories of 5,000 words or less should be sent as an attachment (.doc or.txt) to fiftystates@ballyhoostories.com. Do not paste in body of the e-mail. Sorry, no snail-mail submissions. Specify the state for which you are submitting in the subject line of your e-mail. Deadline is December 31, 2006. Please wait to hear from us before sending another story.
Holy hot dish, you mean those 28 years in Minnesota might yield a 5k word story? Has to be something about wild rice and muskeg. The chipper has already been done, and nothing about Lutherans or guys falling off roofs in the winter.
What, no shoddish in Shakopee?
Anyway, looks like fun. I'm on it!
Well, shoot. The watoosie in Winnemucca is off the menu, since they don't list Nevada. Though I guess we really do have more flyover country than most ... ;-)
